Background
The Henry Wise Wood High School Council last undertook a comprehensive review of its governing bylaws in October 2013.
Over the past decade, significant updates occurred in Alberta’s provincial education governance, including the enactment of the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation (AR 94/2019).
To ensure our School Council operates with clarity, legal compliance, and modern effectiveness, the Executive has prepared an updated draft of the Bylaws.
The amended document has been streamlined to be shorter, simpler, and far more practical for everyday volunteer use.
The proposed changes modernize our governance language, align our structure with Calgary Board of Education (CBE) regulations, provide clear financial and legal safeguards, and increase overall flexibility for parent participation.
